PREFACE
We consider that the publishing of this book is relevant and will fulfill
the students´ learning and teaching needs. Moreover it will promote
their interest as future M.D. or specialist in the physiopathogenic and in
the prevention of abnormalities that can come up during the develop-
ment of the natal stages.
The laboratory practices are an important tool for the teaching and
guidance of the student to develop experience, and certain skills and
competences that will help them understand the normal and abnor-
mal development processes in human beings and will also awaken
their interest in research, prevention, diagnosis, treatment and reha-
bilitation of congenital malformations.
Embryology is defined as the study of the factors that induce and
regulate the structural physiological and behavioral changes that take
place in the life of a human being.
It also describes the morphofunctional changes that take place dur-
ing the overall development of the body in the prenatal stage, its rela-
tion with the mother, and the way that genetic and environmental
factors influence on it. The importance of Embryology is to provide the
individual with preventive and therapeutic measures that will optimize
his/her development. The interest in the study of prenatal develop-
ment is due to the fact that many phenomena in post natal stages
